The Board of Trustees is inviting community members to apply to serve on the District’s Citizens’ Oversight Committee, which is being established as a result of at least 55 percent of voters in the District voting in favor of Measure D at the November 6, 2018 election. Proposition 39 requires that such a committee be established if a school bond is passed pursuant to a 55 percent (super-majority) approval. On November 6, 2018, voters residing within the Lemoore Union Elementary School District passed Measure D. Measure D is a $26,000,000 bond measure that authorizes funding for needed repairs, upgrades, and construction of a new elementary school. As noted Proposition 39 requires a 55% supermajority for approval; Measure D was passed by 62.61%.
Pursuant to Proposition 39, the general duties of the Committee are to:
Ensure Measure D funds are spent only on projects listed in Measure D, and that no funds are used for any other purpose, including teacher and administrator salaries and other school operating expenses.
Receive and review copies of the annual financial and performance audits with respect to the bond projects as required by state law.
Provide information to the public concerning the expenditure of bond funds.
The Committee is required to meet at least annually, but will likely meet quarterly. For more information, call the Lemoore Union Elementary School District Office at 924-6802.
